Already There
03:22
|
|||
Can't seem to shake this place though I've walked out a hundred times
Can't seem to join this race while our courses are out of line
Nothing to show for the nothing we've done although nothing is all that there is
Grow up fast for the grown up world and we'll be on our way
But I'm not growing up I'm just aging
Why isn't anything just changing like it could?
I know I'm going nowhere
Why can't I just embrace it the way I should?
See and be seen on the scene all you want but the cool kids will still think you're lame
Sell yourself out for a world that won't care and you're still gonna feel just the same
Being estranged from the person inside only drives yourself further away
Life is good, life is hard, life is rough, life is easy, life is too tough
And its too short to fake it
At what point do you make it anyway?
We're all hung up on something
There's no use to go denying your natural state
Old friends and new friends and good friends and bad friends and husbands and wives
Leaders and followers and givers and borrowers; we're all missing half of our lives
Under the rug, take religion or drugs- we're all creatures of virtue and sin
Kids and careers and getting lost within fears, running races we all wanna win
But isn't everybody losing...
When elation has been cast aside with despair?
Victory's an illusion
There's no sense in feeling lost, cuz you're already there

Since Life Began
03:47
|
|||
All mountains break and dissolve into rocks and sand
There's been union and drifting apart since life began
Venture in and evolve 'til you've found your name
Look further out, the difference is all the same
Be grateful
You were nice enough to give yourself away
No resentment, no ethereal decay
Stay wise enough to escape somewhere out of sight
The darkness is never as strong once you've seen the light
All loveliness in the world can be yours to keep
Embrace the fall when the hill becomes to steep
We'll miss you
But remember, it was never meant to last
All will flourish, all will suffer, all will pass

Out of the cosmos and through my head plays your favorite song
A righteous expression of Freud's regression, we sing along
Reality leaves behind what our dreams might like to see
It's not for everyone, but it's good enough...it's good enough for me
Escaping wisdom has left its imprint upon your heart
Abandon ambition, roll up your blankets, and fall apart
Time moves forward while you hang your head in shame
You're a failure, but I love you, I still love you just the same

Adjust My Mind
03:18
|
|||
Beyond the silver screen
Behind a golden door
In a frozen time, see what the heart ignores
Buried in burden on
A Roman holiday
Allow the world to turn and feel it wash away
So many ways to spoil the view
It feels much worse, but it looks brand new
I can't look away if I wanted to
I guess I'll just adjust my mind
Words of savoir-faire echoing on the breeze
We need all we can get here in times like these
Stuck with a stranger's love
That isn't yours to give
Stuck in a hollow life that isn't yours to live
So many ways to spoil the view
It looks much worse but it feels brand new
I can't look away if I wanted to
I guess I'll just adjust my mind

After the Turquoise
03:58
|
|||
By Amy Dougherty and Brady Newbill
Open my eyes and take me away
The answer was always a smile in the rain
Time lifted a rose and we slipped underneath
A road off the map to a home out of reach
We got lost apart, together so free
Nowhere to stop but our minds
After the turquoise had faded to grey
You would come home and have nothing to say
A book on the shelf, a life lesson learned
The moments I'll keep, the rest of it burned
We got off the trail, somewhere far away
Aimlessly drifting in time
I stayed inside wondering why
The memories fade and everything dies
Gather what's left of you, set down your heart
I'll be right next to you, old from the start
Do it all right and you're never the same
Through opening doorways we'll find
A new place to call home
Born of the sunlight and gone with the rain
Nightfall of answers where questions remain
Laughing and crying we roll down a hill
Counting the dangers of life standing still

Passing Through
04:22
|
|||
Light the way, the circus leaves tonight
Pack my heart on board and drive me out of sight
"Time won't stop", said the poet on the hill
He says "inspiration comes to you, like perfection never will"
We thanked him for the insight, and we headed out of town
And the noise of the city was so overwhelming
But we couldn't hear a sound
*Chorus:
There's an impulse where my reason used to be
We're all invincible as far as I can see
The longer time goes by, the further that we roll
The harder life we try the less that we control
Delirious and blissful, passing through the golden gate
A youth of ours so sinful, it was hardly worth the wait
I remember how it hit me, somewhere west of San Jose
That I know that life will never feel the same after evening falls on Monterrey
*Chorus
Some will take the future, while others take the past
But none of us will ever know the sweetness of savoring the days that never last

Get Out of Your Head

Again
02:35
|
|||
Zip up your suitcase
And leave our hang-ups where they are
We won't need them once you say goodbye
In between disintegrations
Are fading memories I took for granted too
But I know you tried your best and so did I
Keep your voice heard if you ever wanna speak again
Keep your mind strong if you're ever feeling weak again
You take the anxious mornings
I'll keep the emptiness at night
Looks like you're leaving just in time
Though you may be indecisive, insecure and impatient
That's okay
You have your moments, and I have mine
Will you remember this if you ever pass this way again?
I'd hold on to this but I'd rather walk away again
Once you leave here, it can never feel the same again
Keep your life in motion if you ever wanna live again
